Fort Myers is home for Collaborative Construction. We’re a family-owned remodeling company led by husband-and-wife team Katarina and Josh Thornton, and we specialize in full kitchen remodels, full bathroom renovations, and partial kitchen and bathroom updates for homeowners in the city and the Lee County neighborhoods around it.

Few places in Southwest Florida have a wider mix of homes. Close to the Caloosahatchee River, the streets around McGregor Boulevard, Edison Park, and Dean Park hold some of the area’s oldest houses. Farther south and east, mid-century ranch homes give way to condominiums and newer gated communities. Each kind of home asks something different of a remodel.

That is why the first step is a conversation. Tell us how you use the room, what frustrates you about it, and what you would love to walk into every morning. We bring layout ideas, material options, and craftsmanship, with clear communication from the first estimate to the final walkthrough.

Kitchen remodeling in Fort Myers

Many older Fort Myers kitchens were built as separate, closed-off rooms. A full kitchen remodel can reconfigure the floor plan to improve flow, storage, and functionality, then bring cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, flooring, and lighting together as one design. If the layout already works, a partial remodel such as new countertops and a backsplash, or cabinet refacing, can refresh the room without starting over.

Bathroom remodeling in Fort Myers

From a hall bathroom that has not changed since the house was built to a primary suite that needs a real shower, we take on full bathroom renovations and focused updates. That covers walk-in showers and tub installations, waterproof tile systems, vanities and storage, plumbing fixtures, and updated lighting and ventilation, which earns its keep in a humid climate.

Local knowledge

What to plan for in a Fort Myers remodel

Every home is different. These are the things worth knowing before a kitchen or bathroom project in Fort Myers begins.

Older homes near the river

Houses in the historic neighborhoods can hold surprises behind the walls: aging plumbing and wiring, or framing altered over the decades. It is better to allow for plumbing and electrical updates in the plan than to discover them late.

Concrete slab floors

Like most of Southwest Florida, many Fort Myers homes sit on a concrete slab. Moving a sink, shower, or toilet means rerouting the drain beneath it, so layout changes are best decided early.

Condominiums and gated communities

Associations often set working hours, delivery and elevator rules, and approval steps for interior work. Sharing your community’s guidelines at the start keeps the schedule realistic.

City address, county home

A Fort Myers mailing address does not always mean the home is inside city limits. Whiskey Creek, Iona, and many other neighborhoods are part of unincorporated Lee County.

Fort Myers remodeling questions

01

Do you remodel kitchens and bathrooms throughout Fort Myers?

Yes. Collaborative Construction is based in Fort Myers and works with homeowners across the city and nearby Lee County neighborhoods, including the McGregor Boulevard corridor, Whiskey Creek, Iona, and Gateway. If you are not sure whether your address is in our service area, call (239) 295-8613.

02

Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen or bathroom in Fort Myers?

It depends on the scope. Work that changes plumbing, electrical, or the structure of the home generally requires a permit, while purely cosmetic updates often do not. Homes inside city limits are handled by the City of Fort Myers, and homes with a Fort Myers address outside the limits go through Lee County. Ask us about your project during your free estimate.

03

Can an older Fort Myers home be updated without losing its character?

That is a conversation we enjoy. We work closely with you on layout recommendations, material selections, and finish options, so the new kitchen or bathroom suits both the house and the way you live in it.

04

Can I remodel just part of my kitchen or bathroom?

Yes. Alongside full remodels we take on partial kitchen and bathroom updates, such as countertops and backsplash, cabinet refacing, a new vanity, or replacing a tub with a walk-in shower.

05
